Only 30 minutes by train from London Waterloo to Hampton Court Station, East Molesey is the gateway to Hampton Court Palace. The Palace was originally built for Cardinal Wolsey in 1514 and taken over by King Henry VIII as his own in 1529. Steeped in history and tradition, Hampton Court Palace is one of the most visited landmarks in the UK and offers a fascinating glimpse into the life and times of the British monarchy 500 years ago.

A visit to the Palace is a memorable experience but there is so much more to see in and around the Molesey area. A leisurely stroll along the riverside is a pleasure at any time of year either by following the towpath alongside the River Thames, past the Palace in to Kingston-upon-Thames and onward to Richmond, or in the other direction, passing Molesey Boat Club and East Molesey Cricket Club near the Hurst Park Estate, towards Walton-upon-Thames.

Alternatively, visitors could enjoy the regular ferry boat service that is available to Kingston, Richmond and, if you choose, meandering all the way to Westminster.

Just a few minutes' walk from Hampton Court gates can be found East Molesey (or Hampton Court Village as it is known locally) a traditional British village, with its range of independent shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. These include antiques, arts, crafts, photography, clothes, shoes, delicatessens, hair salons to name but a few, as well as places to drink and eat to suit every taste and budget.

Just a further 5 to 10 minutes walk away are many more shops, bars and restaurants on the Walton Road, East Molesey. Often mistakenly referred to as Molesey High Street, this is the main shopping area for local residents. Here you will find some speciality shops and the old public house "The Bell", that is over four hundred years old and may have originally been built as a farmhouse.

The oldest building in Molesey is St Peters Church with its ancient tower built about 1440. This is located further away from the main village towards Hersham. Opposite the church, you will find another parade of shops which is the real High Street in West Molesey – these shops are general convenience stores for the needs of local residents in the neighbourhood.

The local business owners of Hampton Court Village, East & West Molesey are always delighted to welcome visitors of all nationalities, as well as providing a service to the many local residents who enjoy living in Molesey.

Please have a browse throughout this site and click on the relevant hyper-links for further information and details of cafes, shops and businesses within the area.

Should you have any enquiries or suggestions for inclusion on this website, please don't hesitate to contact us.

For all new visitors to Molesey, we hope you enjoy your time here.
